DEFROST THE DAY BEFORE – REMOVE FROM THE FREEZER 24 HOURS BEFORE YOU ARE GOING TO COOK IT – this is to make sure the Turkey Crown is defrosted in the centre.
ALL OVENS VARY – PLEASE MAKE SURE THE TURKEY CROWN IS HOT AND COOKED IN THE CENTRE BEFORE SERVING
As a rule of thumb, for a cooking time guide, cook for 20mins PLUS 45 minutes per kilo. This should give you a good estimate of the cooking time. Pre-heat your oven to 180c/ 190 deg C / Gas mark 5. Place the Crown in a roasting dish and cover with foil. Try and get it into the middle of the oven.This 2kg Turkey would oven bake for 1hr 50 minutes at 180c/190c – If you like you can cover the crown with bacon, fatty bacon is best as it won’t burn as much and add extra taste to the crown. Simply remove them before serving ( this is just to add extra flavour) – Baste the meat with it’s own juices every 20 mins. For a crispy skin remove the foil for the last 20 -25 mins. Let the Turkey Crown rest for 10 minutes before serving.
